Another storm another day off

I am still on my stretch of 3 weeks off but it is soon coming to an end. But it is OK because on Friday, last day off, I am meeting with the sew and sews.
This morning I started my day slowly. Hubby out to work since 3 in the morning.
Look at the view from inside.
Also see some of the scraptherapy I have been doing.

Jeans bucket

What a fun project this little jean bucket. I am taking machine embroidery class and this is our first project. Sew much fun. I had to do one because I could not wait to try my machine. Really the things you can do with that machine are so fun.

Bionic gear bag

Today I chose and cut the fabric for the bionic gear bag.
The class is only on the 5th of March but I wanted to do this before I started my long stretch of 21 days in a row of work.
After that I trimmed down a panel of farmall tractors for an upcoming quilt I want to make with a teddy bear on a tractor quilt, both for Mike tractor run this summer.  They are going to be gift for some participants.
Here are some pics.

Still on the binding

Snow storm is over today and a bright sunny day it is. I am still home because my driveway is not open yet. But it is fine with me. It gives me a good reason to stay home and be lazy. I would like to make something nice that I have seen on sew can she. It is a tutorial for mail holder. It ask for ironed on interfacing but I wonder if I would be OK with fusible fleece. I could embellish it with embroydery as well.
Hum... now I am thinking.

Binding during a snow storm

I am still on my time off. Will start on the 12th of February for 3 weeks.😢
So I was able to finish quilting my 2015 retreat qu'il.  I also attached the binding. I made the label and now I am binding it by hand to the back of the quilt.
I tried many times to machine bind everything but it never turned out as beautiful as a quilt binded by hand.

2015 retreat quilt

The quilt I did worked on at the 2015 quilting retreat is called flower bed. I found the pattern in Joan Ford cut the Scraps plus one. Her second book of scraptherapy. It was a fun quilt to do. Easy and quick, what I like for retreat quilts.
I decided to quilt this fmq on the powerquilter using stencils.
One stencil is call
TULIPS BULB
the other one is call
ELEGANCE.
I trace both of them on a stack of dritz paper. Without tread in my powerquilter I fmq over the tracing perforating all of the copies. I then, using double sided tape , positioned them on the quilt. The quilt IA like a positive/negative kind of quilt that have 20 squares. I decided to divide one of the square into a nine patch. Each little square was quilted with tulip bulb stencil. That means 90 copies of that one was needed. But with stacking of the dritz paper it was not a problem.
The rest of the quilt I only used the stencil for the middle of the square and the rest was stippled with fmq. (I certainly getting better with stippling 😉)
Now to square this quilt and binding and I can call it done.😅

Progress

I am making progress on the quilting of the 2015 retreat quilt. I am fmq this one using stencils and dritz paper. I trace the stencil on dritz paper. After that I put this one on top of many more dritz paper, about a stack of twelve. I then sew on the traced stencil going trough all the copies at the same time. No tread in the machine this is just to perforate the paper. I will use the perforated lines as my guide for the fmq. I stabilize each piece of paper with double sided tape. It works great. Once I do the fmq the paper is easy to tear away.
